Glacial valleys are among the most typical elements of the present-day Belarussian landscape. These depressions are sufficiently important to be protected as original geological monuments. Up to the recent time only some elements of the glacial valley landscape such as lakes, forests were protected. Their conservation as geosites started about five years ago. Over that time nineteen most valuable glacial valleys from different regions of Belarus have been given a status of geological and geomorphological reserves.
