Heat flow values determined from shallow (40 m deep) boreholes, subsurface (2.5 m deep) temperatures, and results of remote thermal sensing for the area adjacent to the Caspian Sea are given. An experimental estimation of the influence of Holocene transgression on the heat flow change (-17 mW/m2) compared with the calculated one shows that the topography of this area nearly a few hundred years ago was different from that of the present.
