The lithostratigraphic division of the volcanic strata was made in conformity with the Regional Stratigraphic Charts of Belarus and Ukraine on the basis of petrological and geochemical studies of Vendian traps found in the central part of the Volyn-Brest magmatic province. Stratified structures and intrusive complexes of the Vendian trap formation found in the adjacent territories of both countries were compared and correlated. The petrological, geochemical and formational rock belonging was specified; petrochemical types of traps – normal picrobasalts and Mg-rich subalkaline olivine basalts were distinguished as the new ones for Belarus.

The correlation performed allowed the authors to estimate the duration of a break in the province magmatic activity at about 2 Ma and to suggest that the formation of traps near the upper and lower parts of the Vendian took place about 555 Ma ago. The practical importance of the correlation performed is the comparison of copper-bearing horizons of the stratiform type found in different traps withing the adjacent territories of Ukraine and Belarus.
