APPEARANCE AND SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT OF FARMING ECONOMY IN BELARUS (FROM POLLEN DATA). G.I. Simakova, Institute of Geological Sciences NASB, Minsk, Belarus.

An appearance of new (productive) forms of economy within the territory of Belarus dates to the beginning of the Neolithic that corresponds to the middle part of the Atlantic period of the Holocene. According to the data of spore- and pollen, as well as of radiocarbon analyses, an appearance of pollen of cultural cereals and pasture weeds has been revealed in the interval between 6,600 and 6,000 yrs. BP in southwestern, southern, and central regions of Belarus. This process had become notable since 5,000 yrs. BP in Northern Belarus. The stage of an active anthropogenic influence on vegetation starts from AT/SB (also 5,000yrs. BP). Permanent presence of the pollen of cultural cereals (mainly of Secale) since 3,000 yrs. BP in the spectra of Southern sections, as well as presence of the same pollen since 2,700-2,400-2,000yrs. BP in the pollen spectra of the Central and Northern sections, makes it possible to constrain the time framework of an existence of rather developed arable agriculture.
